Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—used the enemy for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their status as important members in the influential clan could enable the group reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This means them few options but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
