The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Is Here, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination released the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the outer limits of the universe. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Iconic Releases
Similar to the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow
The movie will see the return of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release near the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.
The company has a set of three fresh titles publicly declared for that year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
